Fire and Water

“Fire and Water” is a show that highlights these two elements in their similarities and differences. The two are very different in ways of form, color, shape, and feel. Like many polar opposites, these two attract one another. Fire being sharp, fierce, hot, and aggressive. Water being connected, flowing, transparent, and everlasting. One can make the other disappear, but it can also combine to create something wonderful! Celebrating their individual beauties, and combining to experience a magnificent creation.

Jeremy Bennett, Band Director

A crowd favorite, Wake Up! tells the classic story of a young girl and the monsters who live under the bed. The opening movement of Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” provides a dissonant and ominous atmosphere that represents the beginning of the monster’s haunting. The iconic 90’s tune from the Pixies, “Where Is My Mind?” gives our young character space to slow down and contemplate her sanity. Are the monsters around us even real? Or is it all just in our heads? “After Dark” by popular internet artist Mr. Kitty slowly builds in, just as our character falls asleep, and the monster emerges to dance in the darkness of the night. Original music by Jeff Chambers is mashed with a recapitulation of “Bring Me To Life” as the monster turns our sweet dream into a chaotic nightmare. Will we ever wake up? Featuring instrumental solists Grace Osmonson, Aliva Ingraham, Leon Jacob, and Mason Uytioco. Guard Soliest is Makynna Winden.

This year's Leadership is:

Head Drum Major - Beth Hendricks
Assistant Drum Major -Isaac Clark

Show Title: Everfrost

Description: Around us stretch vast mountains, cloaked in ice and silence, their enormity both beautiful and unforgiving. As the storm brews, the stillness is shattered; snow swirls, ice, and avalanches thunder across the frozen expanse. As the blizzard subsides, a quiet fog settles and fine crystals hang suspended in the air. Though the terrain is perilous, the light after solstice says that winter's hold is never absolute, and transformation waits just beyond.
