The show for 2008 is titled Dona Nobis Pacem, a contata by Ralph Vaughan-Williams, arranged for the Pride by Fred Dole, with percussion by Brent Edwards, and Zack Freeman.
Drill Design is by Bill Legg, and Nate Barham.
Visual Design is by Christie Crowder, and Stephanie Knight.
Drum Majors are Michael Mackay, and Cody Swearingen.
Color Guard Captain is Dottie Harmon.
Dona Nobis Pacem is a cantata written by Vaughan-Williams in hope of preventing WWII. It is traditionally performed in 5 through-composed movements. Our show features four of the movements. The first movement is the Agnus Dei which features a baritone soloist playing the part that is usually a prayer sung by a soprano soloist in a minor key. The second movement is Beat Beat Drums which is meant to signify war, and the carnage it brings. The third movement is titled Word Over All, and is Vaughan-William’s setting of Walt Whitman’s poem Reconciliation. The fourth movement is the Dirge for Two Veterans. It is a funeral march for a father and son who have gone off to war, have been slain, and are now laying in a double rave. The final movement is titled Prayer for Peace, and is meant to represent the triumphant return of peace and hope to the war-torn land, and is finished by the restating of the Agnus Dei theme, now in a major key.

Scott Goranson, Band Director
The A.C. Davis Buccaneer Marching Band and Color Guard is proud to welcome you to the 8th Annual Harvest Marching Band Competition. The Band is under the direction of Mr. Scott Goranson. The ensemble's 2008 program is entitled "The Rise and Fall of Rome" movements include:"Chisels and Stone" The hard work of slaves and other laborers, using chisels, hammers and their own backbreaking labor to create the beautifully stunning architectural masterpieces that still exist as ruins in and around Rome. Many of these works were created to honor the many gods of Rome, as well as the emperors. The music portrays the chiseling of the stone and the assembly and erection of the large Roman columns.
"Catacombs" is a piece that captures the darkened, murky crevices of the underground burial grounds of the ancient Romans and latter Christian martyrs. Somber and reverent, it portends the other side of the glorious Roman culture.
"Pagan Dance and the Great Fire" explores the Pagan celebrations of many gods, some not so benevolent as others. The “Pagan Dance” segment is ritualistic and a tad ominous, percussion pounding the underlying beat while the celebrants conjure up a flurry of unrestrained revelry. The “Great Fire” segment re-creates the awesome cataclysm that started in the wooden shops and houses around the Circus Maximus, destroying untold structures, including Nero’s palace and a variety of temples.
Music is composed by Key Poulan. Drill writer is Russ Newbury. Color Guard Choreography by Tim Donnell. Instructional Staff include:
Mike Helseth, assistant director

3. Heart Attack
This years show is entitled “Heartbeat”. There is no organ more valuable to human life than the heart. In classic literature, it’s considered the place where our sense of love originates. In medicine, it’s recognized as the one thing that keeps us alive. Heartbeat is designed around the various ways we think of the human heart. The heartbeat is heard throughout the show through the percussion and sometimes the winds, pounding incessantly, keeping the vital “thumpa-thumpa” chugging along.

LA NOUBA
The show name La Nouba originates from the French phrase "faire la nouba," which means to party, to live it up. This creation is an unforgettable journey through our universe—at once threatening and exhilarating, frightening and familiar. La Nouba is the story of all stories, the site of all mysteries, where dreams and nightmares sleep side by side. La Nouba is memory, individual and universal. It beckons to us, challenges us to uncover passions we thought we'd lost long ago. Here, anything is possible.

This fall's field show is the music and drill to "Disney's Fantasmic", including "Mickey the Sorcerer", "Princess Medley", and the exciting "Finale" from the popular Disneyland and DisneyWorld attraction. We hope you enjoy the battle of good over evil in "Disney's Fantasmic"!Mark Tietjen, Band Director
University High School Marching Band and Colorguard’s 2008 production “Dark Winds” paints an ominous feeling of anxiousness and fear. Opening with the band and guard evoking wind blowing from all directions, music from James Newton Howard graciously compliments the foreboding idea suggested on the field. Throughout the show, “dark winds” are continually moving about the field, creating the idea that something evil is prevalent. During the 2nd movement, shelter from the ubiquitous darkness that engulfs the show is found, if only for an instant, only to give way to the pursuing dark winds punctuated by fast and pounding tribal dances that illustrate the menacing presence of “Dark Winds.”Jim Kovach, Band Director
